5th January 2021
Due to yesterdays announcement of the national lockdown, training is suspended once again until the restrictions are lifted.
At present, the earliest that we are looking at will be mid-February, but I will update should there be any change.
It has recently been brought to my attention that some of our younger athletes are using Strava and are making friend requests to people who they do not know and who do not know them. This is not sensible practice and may I advise you to stop, and if anyone gets a request from a stranger please refuse it.
This applies to all ages.
Please can I remind ALL athletes, parents, guardians etc to make themselves aware of the privacy settings on such devices, and current advice for all is to have these settings set as PRIVATE. This rule of thumb applies to all social media sites, such as Facebook etc.
Strava, as it was pointed out to me, can be used to follow athletes as they are running, shows their favourite routes and starting and stopping points. This could, in the wrong hands, be used for any illegal purpose; attack, theft or any other criminal activity.
If you are over 18 then it is your responsibility but anyone under 18; PARENTS it is your job.
Stay running, stay safe.
